Best Hospital Overall
- Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University ranked No. 11 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2011 annual list of “America’s Best Hospitals". In addition, the hospital ranked highly in 14 specialties areas, which include orthopedics, kidney disorders, diabetes & endocrinology, neurology & neurosurgery, ear, nose & throat and more.
- Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University, Saint Louis University Hospital, and St. Louis Children's Hospital were named in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals 2011" list for the St. Louis metro area. The magazine ranked every hospital in metropolitan areas with populations of 1 million or greater. Of 53 hospitals in St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University ranked No. 1.
- Saint Louis University Hospital ranked No. 21 in the specialty area of geriatric care by U.S. News & World Report in its 2011 “America’s Best Hospitals” list.
- St. Luke's Hospital received the 2011 "America's 50 Best Hospitals" award by HealthGrades for outstanding clinical performance over the course of a seven-year period. St. Luke's was ranked for the fifth consecutive year and remains the only hospital in Missouri to be named since the inception of the HealthGrades list.
- Missouri Baptist Medical Center was named on Thomson Reuters' "100 Top Hospitals" list in Thomson Reuters annual study, released March 28, 2011. Thomson Reuters examines clinical process and outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction, financial performance and operational efficiency when determining its list.
- In 2009, St. Louis Children’s Hospital was named as the 5th "Best Pediatric Hospital" in the nation by Parents magazine. Several specialties were rated in the top ten, including newborn medicine (No. 3), orthopedics (No. 3), pulmonary medicine (No. 4), emergency medicine (No. 4), and cardiac services (No. 6). St. Louis Children's Hospital also ranked on U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Children's Hospitals" 2011-2012 Honor Roll list with top rated specialties in neonatal care, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, respiratory disorders, urology, and more.
- St. Luke’s Hospital has been named a Top 100 hospital five times by Solucient, an information provider to the health care industry. St. Luke’s consistent excellence led to its being named one of 77 benchmark hospitals in the nation.

- Five St. Louis-area hospitals ranked among the top 5 percent on HealthGrades' Hospital Quality and Cinical Excellence national list for 2011. The five hospitals, St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, MO, SSM Saint Mary's Health Center in Richmond Heights, Barnes-Jewish Saint Peters Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, and Christian Hospital, were ranked based on patients' clinical outcomes.

Special Designation
- St. Louis-based Sisters of Mercy Health System took two of the top three spots in health analytics firm SDI's ranking of top 100 most integrated health-care networks in the nation. The network was recognized for its ability to operate as a unified organization in eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization, and physicians. St. John's Mercy Health Care in St. Louis ranked No. 2 in the nation on its list.
- Four St. Louis area hospitals were awarded Health Grades Inc.'s Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence Award for 2010. The hospitals included Missouri Baptist Medical Center (St. Louis County), SSM Saint Joseph Health Center(St. Charles and Wentzville), SSM St. Mary's Health Center (Richmond Heights), and St. Luke's Hospital (Chesterfield). All scored in the top 5 percent for risk-adjusted death and complication rates after Health Grades evaluated 40 million patient records. Missouri Baptist Medical Center ranked No. 1 in the state for overall cardiac services, receiving the Cardiac Care Excellence Award and Coronary Intervention Excellence Award for 2010.
- Missouri Baptist Medical Center and the Center for Cancer Care and Research is one of just 62 community programs nationwide to be granted Community Clinical Oncology Program designation by the National Cancer Institute.
