St. Louis Area Population and Demographics

The bi-state metropolitan area includes eight counties in both Missouri and Illinois, for a total of 16 counties. The current population estimate is 2,792,309 as of the U.S. Census Bureau's 2011 “American Community Survey". This ranks St. Louis area as the 18th largest metropolitan area in the United States.
