Express Scripts Inc. made its expansion plans official Thursday, saying it will locate a $74 million drug distribution plant across Interstate 70 from company headquarters in north St. Louis County.

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) and RubinBrown LLP announced today that the 2009 Ameren Corporate Citizenship Award will be presented to Edward Jones and Edward Jones Managing Partner Jim Weddle, and the 2009 Spirit of St. Louis Technology Award will be presented to Savvis Inc., headed by CEO Phil Koen. Both awards will be presented along with the recognition of the Greater St. Louis Top 50 firms at the 2009 Greater St. Louis Top 50 Awards Gala on Wednesday evening, November 18th, at the Marriott St. Louis Union Station. Presented each year since 1996, the Top 50 Awards program and dinner salutes outstanding businesses, entrepreneurs and organizations in all industry sectors throughout the St. Louis region.

LOUIS - For months, occupants of downtown office towers watched construction workers shape a two-block stretch of dirt and grass and heretofore dead-end dreams into an architectural and horticultural melange. On Wednesday, people swarmed from the towers and elsewhere for a closer look at the opening of Citygarden, an urban sculpture park on the Gateway Mall.

ST. LOUIS -- Ranked 18th in the nation in metro population, the St. Louis region continues to excel as a Top 10 leading center for corporate headquarters. Fortune Magazine's just-released annual ranking of the nation's top companies by revenue, which will be published in the May 4th issue, includes 8 Fortune 500 firms in the St. Louis region and a total of 21 in the Fortune 1000 (the latter is the same number as 2008). These totals include Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., which maintains dual corporate headquarters in both St. Louis and Chicago, but whose CEO and top officers are located here.

LOUIS -- With the Cardinals projected to again attract approximately three million fans this season, the St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association (RCGA) estimates that the economic impact of the 2009 Cardinal season on the St. Louis region will exceed $280 million, according to a just-completed economic impact analysis conducted by the RCGA’s Chief Economist Ruth Sergenian.

ST. LOUIS -- The 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament, which starts today and runs through this Sunday, March 8th, marks the 19th consecutive year that the league championship has been held in St. Louis, and the 15th year in a row at Scottrade Center.

China’s Ambassador to the United States joined local and state leaders today in announcing the formation of a new partnership here to spearhead and coordinate efforts to make St. Louis a hub for China’s Midwest trade. Officials announced that a working group from St. Louis will head back to Beijing this spring for a second visit to explore closer economic ties.

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center was awarded a $5.4 million grant this week from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to tackle global health and hunger issues. The funding will help the center secure the approval of African governments to allow field testing of genetically modified, nutritionally fortified crops.
