The following is a sampling of businesses that have established locations or expanded operations already based in the St. Louis area in 2006.
Isle of Capri Casinos - The Biloxi-based Isle of Capri Casinos is relocating its headquarters to Creve Coeur, Mo., this summer. The company, with revenues in excess of $1 billion, plans to occupy 53,000 square feet in the Creve Coeur Corporate Center building. This relocation includes 150 new jobs and $10 million in capital investment.
Kelsey-Hayes, TRW Automotive - Kelsey-Hayes, a subsidiary of TRW Automotive, is leasing 84,180 square feet in the Corporate 44 Business Park in Fenton as the site for a "just-in-time" assembly operation to serve DaimlerChrysler in Fenton. Kelsey-Hayes plans to employ 100 and estimates the capital investment for the project at $12 million.
Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. - Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., based in Novato, Calif., is adding 190 jobs, including 145 new claims professionals, to its existing operations in St. Louis Co. As part of the expansion, a new national customer sales and service center has opened to assist the company's network of independent agents. With the increase staff, Fireman's Fund expects to employ nearly 370 at its St. Louis County facilities.
AFB International - AFB International, a subsidiary of Ensign-Bickford Industries, announced they will lease an 84,000 square foot building in the Missouri Research Park to expand their research and development, sales and administrative functions. The project is expected to add 37 new jobs with an average annual salary of $71,700 within two years. Project investment is estimated at $13.4 million.
MonsterCommerce - MonsterCommerce has selected St. Clair County as its location for their expansion. The company has leased 35,000 square feet of adjacent office space for three years and plans to purchase $3 million in furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Total project investment is $16.5 million and 188 new jobs with an annual average wage of $40,700 will be created.
Spectrum Brands - In April, Spectrum Brands, headquartered in Atlanta, has announced it will lease a 605,000-square-foot facility at Lakeview Commerce Center in Edwardsville, IL to distribute pet care, battery, insecticide and fertilizer products throughout the Midwest. The project will create 30 new jobs and represents $27.2 million in new capital investment.
HBPO - In May the HBPO Group selected a site on Cassens Drive Court in Fenton Missouri. The company has leased 60,000 square feet of space for seven years while also planning to invest $4 million in new equipment. Total project investment is $24 million and total new jobs to be created are 50. The company plans to begin moving equipment into the facility in mid-August 2006.
Bugeye Technologies Inc. - In May 2006, Bugeye Technologies Inc. announced an expansion of their facility in Pacific, MO. Total project investment tops $1.1 million and creates an additional 22 jobs. Bugeye is an innovator in a broad range of technologies including prototyping, electronics, imaging, optics, information, computation, simulation and training.
ZincOx Resources - In June 2006, ZincOx Resources announced its purchase of Big Zinc River and will expand their Sauget facility as part of its $57.1 million investment. The company will create over 140 jobs over the next two years.
Center Ethanol Company - The Center Ethanol Company has begun construction of a 50 million gallon (annual) dry mill ethanol plant on a 57-acre site in Sauget, Illinois. The final project parameters are $100 million of capital investment and 35 new jobs at an annual average wage of $45,000. The company expects to be operational in late 2007.
Midwest Aviation Center - The Kansas City Aviation Center has signed a 10-year lease at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport where it will operate the Midwest Aviation Center, a fixed-based aviation center. The new facility will consist of an existing 30,000-square-foot hangar with an attached 12,000-square-foot office structure. MWAC's 24-hour, full-service operation will offer aircraft sales, charter services, parts sales and installation, avionics maintenance and installation, aircraft maintenance, and fuel services, as well as leased hangar storage space. The company will hire 40 at an average annual wage of $36,448.
Edward Jones - Continuing to expand in the region, Edward Jones announced plans to add 900,000 square feet of office space to its campuses in Maryland Heights, MO. The expansion will create 500 jobs with an average annual salary of $55,000. Total investment is estimated at $260 million.
Alternative Energy Sources Inc. - In October Alternative Energy Sources announced its plans to invest $220 million in an ethanol plant on 100 acres at Kelsey Industrial Park in Greenville, Illinois. This plant will be capable of producing 110 million gallons of ethanol by utilizing 40 million bushels of corn annually. This plant will employ 50 workers.
Kerry Group plc - The Kerry Group has selected the former Nestle manufacturing facility in the City of Affton in St. Louis County as the site of its new food manufacturing operation. The Kerry Group will create 40 jobs and invest $10 million in this new operation.
