Economic Development Successes in St. Louis Earn National Recognition
The St. Louis region's economic development successes continue to be recognized nationally. The March 2008 issue of Site Selection magazine ranks the St. Louis region #3 in the nation in 2007 for attracting new and expanded corporate facilities, for major metropolitan areas (populations of over 1 million).
Site Selection's 2007 Top 10 Metros for new and expanded corporate facilities include:
1. Chicago-Naperville-Joliet, Ill./Ind./Wis.
2. Cincinnati-Middletown, Ohio/Ky./Ind.
3. ST. LOUIS, MO./IL.
4. Houston-Baytown-Sugar Land, Texas
5. Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, Minn./Wis.
6. Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro, Tenn., and
Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas (tied for sixth)
8. New York-Newark-Edison, N.Y./N.J./Pa.
9. Detroit/Warren/Livonia, Mich. and
10. Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, Va.
This is the 2nd time in less than a year that Site Selection has posted a high ranking for the St. Louis region. In the May 2007 issue, Site Selection magazine ranked the RCGA one of the "Top 10 Economic Development Organizations in North America" and one of the "Top 6 Major Economic Development Programs".
