Mercy
Mercy plays an important role in providing excellent health care services to the St. Louis region and as the ninth largest employer in St. Louis is a significant contributor to the local economy. Mercy, a member of the Sisters of Mercy Health System and one of the largest Catholic-sponsored health care organizations in the nation, since 1871 has been known for comprehensive family medical care, medical education, research, community services, and dedication to the Mercy values of compassion and caring for all members of the community.
Mercy Hospital St. Louis in west St. Louis County includes an 859-bed, fully accredited teaching hospital; the only Level I (highest level) Trauma Center in St. Louis County and the region's only Burn Center; a nine-level Heart and Vascular Hospital with 96 private patient rooms; a 100,000-square-foot Cancer Center with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities; dedicated inpatient women's health services, including a two-story addition exclusively for mothers and babies and featuring all private rooms; comprehensive Children's Hospital, including a pediatric emergency department and the only pediatric intensive care unit in St. Louis County; a Surgery Center that provides inpatient and outpatient surgical services; and a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Center.
Mercy Hospital Washington, a 187-bed acute care hospital in Washington, Mo., offers medical, surgical, obstetric and pediatric services to residents of five rural counties southwest of St. Louis. Mercy Hospital St. Louis and Mercy Hospital Washington together serve St. Louis County, St. Louis City and Franklin, Warren, St. Charles, Gasconade, Crawford and Jefferson Counties.
Mercy also includes St. John's Mercy Medical Group, a group practice composed of more than 150 board-certified and board-eligible primary care physicians and specialists and 27 nurse practitioners in 65 office locations throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area; St. John's Mercy Healthcare, providing home, retail and ambulatory health services, including: corporate health, home health, hospice, home infusion therapy, pharmacy services, retail optical services, and managed mental health; and St. John's Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo., a partnership with Centerre Healthcare providing both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.
