ST. LOUIS -- Following a nine-month national and local search producing nearly 200 prospective candidates, St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) Chairman Tom Voss, chairman, president and CEO of Ameren Corp., announced today that Joe Reagan has been selected to lead the RCGA as the organization’s next president and CEO, effective February 1, 2012.

The St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA), in conjunction with the Missouri Botanical Gardens Earthways Center, presented awards this morning to area businesses, institutions and organizations for successfully completing the second year of the RCGA’s St. Louis Green Business Challenge. Awards were given to 69 companies across the St. Louis metropolitan region that successfully completed the Challenge, with Special Awards of Merit going to 12 of these.

St. Louis Commerce magazine, the region’s business magazine published since 1918 by the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA), has won both the Gold Award for Communications Excellence, and the national Best In Show Marketing Collateral by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). These two prestigious national awards were presented last evening during the Awards Show, headlined by former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, at the ACCE Annual Convention at the JW Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles.

St. Louis has entered a national competition for the CEOs For Cities’ Talent Dividend, a $1 million civic prize for which more than 50 regions are competing. The competition officially kicked off this week at a national meeting in Chicago. The St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association (RCGA) organized the regional submission in partnership with civic, business, educational and philanthropic organizations in the region. The goal of the national competition is to increase the number of residents with a college degree and win $1 million to support civic efforts in the winning community. The Talent Dividend Prize will be awarded by CEOs for Cities to the metropolitan area that exhibits the greatest increase in the number of post-secondary degrees granted per capita over a three-year period.

ST. LOUIS – With Opening Day this Thursday and with the Cardinals projected to again attract at least 3.2 million fans this season, the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) estimates that the economic impact of the 2011 Cardinal season on the St. Louis region will be $313.6 million, according to a just-completed economic impact analysis conducted by the RCGA's Chief Economist Ruth Sergenian.

ST. LOUIS -- The 2011 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will welcome its millionth fan when the college basketball tournament begins Thursday, March 3rd. The four day event will run through this Sunday, March 6th, marking the 21th consecutive year that the league championship has been held in St. Louis, and the 17th year in a row at Scottrade Center.

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Green Confluence began today at Saint Louis University’s Center for Sustainability and featured a green economy symposium with expert speakers and the unveiling of a new Web portal for green jobs. The two day event is bringing together St. Louis region employers, educators, public policy makers, and citizens to explore the future of the region’s green economy. The Green Economy Symposium is a product of the Green Labor Market Information Project (LMI) and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, in partnership with the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC), Missouri Department of Economic Development and Missouri Career Center. Workforce Investment Boards from the bi-state metropolitan region participated in the project. The St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) coordinated the activities of the Green LMI Project and organized today’s conference.
